Hello everyone, today I want to share with you about an issue that might annoy some of our website visitors. And it’s about the mobile usability error . We all know that Google just released its new algorithm named Mobilegeddon , which will help search results more beneficial for smart phone users. Unfortunately, many site owners are still unaware of this update. They have their website in WordPress platform, but they don’t know that their websites are created in a way which makes it difficult for them to use when you’re using your smart phone. So, I want to share with you guys my knowledge about this issue. Let’s get started!
Once again, many thanks for the valuable information shared. As I am able to understand, one can overcome this by modifying the theme. This is what I have done in my website.
The Mobile Usability Errors are demoted due to Google’s algorithm update named “Mobilegeddon.” This update is intended for giving better search engine ranking to the mobile friendly websites. Now, if your website does not pass the mobile friendly test, it will be demoted in search engine rankings.
If you are an owner of a website in WordPress platform with Compatible video plugin installed, I have sad news for you. If your site is not optimized to mobile screens properly then Google might consider it is not mobile friendly and eventually this can hurt your ranking.
Basically, Compatible video plugin creates a separate mobile version of the video when someone is watching it on his mobile via mobile YouTube. Consequently, Google will get two different versions of your site; one for desktop computers and another for mobile devices (smartphones). And I am pretty sure that smart phone users don’t like to visit websites which are not mobile friendly.
So, there are two things you can do to fix it:
First of all, you need to contact a person from your hosting company and ask them that your site is not mobile friendly. They might provide you with some tips on how to make it mobile friendly or if they don’t know what “mobile compatibility” means then you can tell them that it is a new Google’s update which will help smartphone users to find better search results.
Secondly, you have to modify your site where you have used Compatible video plugin. And its best if you completely delete this plugin from the directory in which it is installed (wp-content/plugins) and then upload the original plugin (i.e., the one which you were using before) back to its original directory.
After doing this, I’m pretty sure that your website will be mobile friendly once again and you can rank at top of Google easily.
